Priority tiers

A priority tierAn optional label (e.g. senior, accessibility need) that moves someone up the line ahead of ordinary walk-ins — kept separate from emergencies. is a label your team can raise a visitor to — Senior, Vulnerable, VIP — that lifts them above ordinary walk-ins in the line. You define the tiers once; staff apply them at the queue.

Owner (a manager can read it) Where: Settings → Queue defaults → Priority tiers 2 min read
They are account-wide. Tiers live in Settings → Queue defaults, on the Priority tiers card, and apply across every location and line — so “Senior” means the same thing everywhere.

What a tier does

  • Applied to a visitor at the queue, a tier ranks them ahead of untiered walk-ins. It is the polite way to prioritise someone who needs it.
  • It never jumps past a genuine emergency or a due booking.
  • Tiers don't carry a colour of their own. They are about order, not decoration.

Create your tiers

  1. Type a name in the New tier box, e.g. “Senior”.
  2. Press Add tier. It is offered on the queue's raise-priority tiles right away.

Tiers vs emergencies

An emergencyThe highest-priority flag — called ahead of everyone, including due bookings. Off by default. is always available separately and outranks everything, including due bookings. Priority tiers sit below that — above ordinary walk-ins, but never ahead of an emergency. Keep tiers for “serve sooner”, and reserve emergency for “serve now”.

Precedence: emergency, then due booking, then priority tier, then walk-in. A flag is awareness only. Called first Emergency — served now, ahead of everyone Due booking — its reserved slot is honoured Priority tier — senior · VIP · above walk-ins Walk-in — plain arrival order Called later Off to the side A flag labels a visitor — awareness, never order.
An emergency outranks everyone; a due booking holds its slot; a priority tier lifts someone above ordinary walk-ins. A flag is awareness only — it never changes the order.
Just need awareness, not priority? Don't make a tier — use a flag instead. Flags label a visitor without changing the order; tiers change the order.
