The Queue console

The Queue page is your live serving desk. People waiting show here in order; you pick a guest and everything you're allowed to do to them appears as big, single-click tiles. Every role on the team can open it — it's the one screen your counter runs on.

Everyone Where: Queue 8 min read
No hidden menus — ever. A guest's actions are never buried in a right-click or “⋯” menu. Select a guest and everything you can legally do to them loads into the Action centre as large labelled tiles — one click each. An action that isn't allowed for their state simply isn't shown.

A quick tour

Across the top sits the line switcher (labelled Serving) — the console always shows exactly one lineA single waiting line inside a location — the thing people join. Also called an area. — and beside it, one status pill.

The status pill — one of five things

It saysWhat it means
Live Normal — people can join and be called.
Closed Outside your opening hours. Hover it to see the reopening time.
Delayed The live feed has dropped. The screen refreshes itself every 15 seconds instead. Nothing is lost.
Reconnecting Your own device is offline.
Not live The location hasn't started its trialYour first 30 days, free — card upfront, one per account, and it covers every location you add during it. Cancel before day 30 and you're never charged. or subscription yet.

Pausing joins is not shown on this pill — it shows as a banner over the list instead. Next to the pill sit the everyday controls:

Next to the status pillWhat happens
Pause joins Stops new joins without closing the line. People already waiting are unaffected. Once paused, the same button reads Resume joins.
Resume joins Restarts new joins without closing the line. People already waiting are unaffected.
Add walk-in Add someone at the counter by hand. Covered in Walk-ins, notes & flags.
Counters Opens “Who's at each counter” — the live roster of your stationsA spot where one staff member serves one visitor — a chair, desk, room or counter.: who's signed in where and which counters are busy.
Displays Opens “What's on your displays” — a live preview of every screen paired to this line, so you can check the lobby TV without walking over.

Below that, the left column holds the numbers band, a search box (Search name or number) and the waiting list; the right column is the Action centre.

  • A Show filter above the list lets you view Everyone or just one type — Emergency, Booked, Priority or Walk-in.
  • A row-density switch (Compact / Regular / Relaxed) sets how much fits on screen.
  • If anyone in the line carries a coloured flagReusable coloured labels staff put on a visitor for awareness only — never shown to the visitor, never change the serving order., matching filter chips appear too.
  • On a phone the Action centre becomes a bottom sheet, with Call next kept in thumb's reach.

The six tabs

Every guest on the line lives in exactly one of these six places.

TabWho's in it
Waiting The line itself, in serving order. Guests who've been called or are being served are pinned above it under “Being seen now”, so nobody vanishes the moment they're called.
Hold Guests you've parked on purpose — stepped out, not ready.
Paused Only appears while somebody is actually parked there. JourneyA visit that passes through several stops in order (e.g. reception → consult → pharmacy). Each stop is its own line. guests who arrived at this stop while it was paused or full wait here. Resume joins returns them all to Waiting at their original place.
Missed No-shows, plus appointments that never checked in (shown as “Appointment” rows with their due time), plus visits the overnight tidy-up ended (shown as “Closed out”).
Recently served Everyone you've finished. This is not strictly today — the window reaches back a day, so a late finish from last night can still be listed this morning. To count today's work, use the Served figure in the numbers band, not this tab.
Upcoming Every appointment still booked on this line — not only today's, next week's are here too. Each row offers Check in (for when they walk in) and Cancel booking.
Example A clinic assistant types “Tan” into the search box, finds the right visitor in one keystroke, taps the row — and the Action centre fills with exactly the tiles that are allowed for that visitor right now.

Calling, serving and everything else is covered in Call & serve.

The numbers band

Two small groups keep score without leaving the page

GroupFigures
Right now In the line (everyone active — waiting, being seen and on hold, the same number as the sidebar's Queue badge); Avg wait; Longest wait.
Today Served, No-shows and Bookings.
  • The wait figures include called guests too — someone walking to the counter has still been waiting.
  • A figure turns amber when the line needs attention — too many in queue, or someone past your max-wait limit.

On a phone the band collapses to the two figures an operator acts on — tap it to expand.

Finding somebody, and looking them up

Type part of a name or any part of the ticket into the search box above the list — “15” and “a015” both find A015.

  • It looks across the live tabs at once — waiting, being seen, on hold, paused, missed and recently served — so a guest who is on hold or already finished still turns up, with their own state shown beside them.
  • It counts what it found (“3 matches”), and nothing matching reads “Nobody matches …”.
The one thing search cannot find — a booking that hasn't checked in. Search only looks at people who are in the line — an appointment still on Upcoming, or a no-show that never checked in, is not.
  • So typing their name finds nothing even though they are right there on the screen.
Example Mrs Tan phones to move her 3pm. Typing “Tan” in the search box returns nothing; open the Upcoming tab, or the Bookings page, and she is there. Nothing is broken.
Search only looks at the part of the line that's on your screen. A very deep line loads the first stretch of people, not everybody — search can only look at what's loaded.
  • When that's the case and it finds nothing, it says how many it searched and that anybody further back isn't loaded yet.
  • The waiting list itself says something shorter above it, naming how many of the total it is showing.
  • Nobody is lost — they are further back in the line and move up as you call from the top.
On the selected guest's card, next to their nameWhat happens
About them The ⓘ icon. Everything known about this visit, on one small panel. You never see a visitor's actual phone number or email anywhere in the console — only which way they can be reached.
Their visit, step by step The clock icon. The honest history of this one visit — joined the line, called, started serving, put on hold, put back in the line, finished. A blank "who" is normal — it means nobody did it by hand; they joined themselves, or a timer acted.
  • The ⓘ panel shows whether they're a walk-in, booked, priority or an emergency; their state; how many people are with them.
  • It also shows how long they've waited ("Waiting too long" in red if they're past your limit); when they joined and their place in line.
  • And how we reach them — the one channel this visitor gave, or "No contact given" if they gave none; when they were last messaged; the service they're booked for; their note; and their flags. Press Done, click away, or press Escape to close it.
  • The 🕐 view carries the time of each entry (in the shop's clock, not your device's), how long the gap was, which counter, and who did it.
  • When the ⓘ panel says “Message didn't arrive”, nothing was sent in its place. turnda does not quietly try a different channel instead.
  • That is deliberate, so the board can never tell you somebody was told when they were not — treat it as a prompt to call that person by name.
  • Why the history matters. Putting somebody back in the line clears their earlier call from their row, so the row and the ⓘ panel show a clean fresh start.
  • The step-by-step view is the only place that remembers they were already called once. Every role can open it.

Banners & special states

What the screen saysWhat it means
This line isn't live yet — start your free trial to open it and take visitors. The location hasn't started its trial or subscription. Guests can't join until it's live, but the console never pretends otherwise.
Line full — the capacity cap ({n}) is reached, so new joins are paused. The capacity capAn optional limit on how many can be in a line before new joins pause automatically. is reached. People already waiting are unaffected.
Joins are paused for this line. People already waiting are unaffected. You (or a colleague) paused joins. Resume joins is one click away, with a count of how many guests are parked waiting to be let back in.
You're offline. Changes won't save and the page won't update until you're back online. Your device has dropped off the internet. The view refreshes itself the moment you're back.
Nobody's waiting in this line The line is empty. The moment someone scans your QR or is added as a walk-in, they appear in serving order.
You can't serve this line yet You're not assigned to this line — ask a manager to add you to its location on Team. Signing in at a counter does not grant access, even at a counter on this line.
This line is outside its opening hours right now. Shown only to a new join, not to you. The status pill by the line's name just reads Closed, with no banner — people already waiting are still yours to call and the queue works exactly as normal.

One more pair worth knowing sits on the status pill itself, not as a banner.

  • Reconnecting — your own device is offline.
  • Delayed — the live feed dropped and the screen is refreshing itself every 15 seconds instead.
  • Either way, nothing is lost and you don't need to do anything.

If it goes wrong

What you seeWhy
The console looks frozen Check for the offline banner first — the page shows its last known state rather than going blank.
A tab you expected is missing Paused only exists while someone is actually parked.
The whole page says you can't serve That's an assignment issue, not a fault — ask a manager to add you to the line.
