The Locations hub

The Locations hub is your control room. Each branch is a tab across the top; pick one and you see one simple tree — the locationA place you operate — a branch, shop or site. One account can have many locations; each has its own opening hours and lines. at the top, then its details, its manager and its linesA single waiting line inside a location — the thing people join. Also called an area. hanging off one spine.

There's no separate "admin" screen — this is where a line is born, and where you tune it forever after.

How it's laid out

The tabs across the top

Badge on the tabWhat it means
New No time zone set yet.
Open Live and taking visitors.
On trial Live, on a free trial.
Not live yet Set up, but not yet taking visitors.
  • Owners also see a + Add a location tab, to open another branch.
  • A manager who runs only one branch does not see tabs at all — a banner reading “You're managing {place}” takes their place.
  • Below the tabs, a header card shows the location's name, time zone, whether hours are set, and how many lines it has.
  • Under that, one connected line down the page holds Location details, Manager, and then every one of your lines — pick a location, then work down the list.

The setup-status card

Just under the tabs sits the setup-status card — the one place that answers "where does this location stand?"

What it shows

What you seeWhat it means
The location's name, next to its badge The header. It doesn't show a percentage — just the name and where the location stands.
Open Live and taking visitors. The only badge a plain staff member ever sees.
On trial Live, on a free trial. Owners and managers only.
Not live yet Set up, but not yet taking visitors. Owners and managers only.
“Ready to open — go live to start taking visitors” Every essential is done.
“{n} still needed to open” Some essentials are still missing.
  • Set — a small dot next to each line, e.g. “6 set”, for settings you've configured yourself.
  • Default — a gold dot, e.g. “{n} on safe defaults”, for settings still on turnda's default, which are fine as they are.
  • Needs attention — a red dot for essentials still to do. A circle by the location's name shows the count over the words “to fix” — a checkmark once you're there.
  • Each not-ready line also carries its own red “Not ready · {n} to do” pill.
You pressWhat happens
Fix → Jumps you straight into the exact place to fix a “⚠ Needs attention” essential — the right pop-up, section, or add-a-line step.
Start 30-day free trial & go live Starts your 30-day free trialYour first 30 days, free — card upfront, one per account, and it covers every location you add during it. Cancel before day 30 and you're never charged. and switches the location on — a card is needed, it's free for 30 days, and you can cancel any time. Lives right inside the setup-status card, once the location isn't live yet.
Go live — add to my trial The same thing, for a location you add after your first one is already live.
Ready is not the same as Live "Ready" means the essentials are done. A line only shows Live — and only then hands out its QR code and join link — once the location is subscribed. The setup-status card's go-live button starts your 30-day free trial and turns the line on.

Location settings

The first two rows on the spine open the Location settings pop-up — one place for everything that belongs to the branch itself, with a list of sections down the side.

Opening another branch

+ Add a location The quick route Copy an existing branch Part of guided setup
What it asks for Its Name and Time zone, pre-filled from your device Which branch to copy, then one question, asked again
Warns about a name you already use ✓ —
What you get An empty branch — you add its first line yourself A branch with a line already in it, copied from the source
Two ways to open a branch.

The copy route is a separate screen headed “Opening another branch?”, saying “You already told us how {your business} runs. We'll copy it.”

On the "Opening another branch?" screenWhat happens
Same as {branch} Copies how that branch runs. You just name the new one. Badged fastest.
Set this one up differently Walks through the setup questions again for this branch.
New branch name Names the branch you're creating.
Which branch should we copy? Shown only once you already have more than one branch.
At this branch, do people book a time, or just turn up? Asked again even when you copy, because it changes how a live queue behaves — turnda never sets it for you without asking. Answered with They just turn up (badged most common), They book a time, or Both.
Create this branch Finishes the setup.
It gets faster each time The screen says so itself: “One screen, then you're done. Another branch should take under a minute.”

One queue, or one per service or person

One line Popular By service By staff
What the visitor picks, after scanning Nothing — they scan and they're in Which service they need Which person they want
Best for A counter, help desk, or one-flow clinic Services with very different lengths — a 10-minute trim and a 90-minute colour People who come back to their own stylist, barber or advisor
Not sure? Start with One line — the simplest thing that works.
Splitting later is a setting, not a rebuild But every split multiplies the queues your staff watch — split when the waits genuinely differ, not because you can.

Deleting a whole location

“Delete location” removes the branch for good. The pop-up asks “Delete “{your branch}”?” and says plainly: “This removes the location from turnda. You can't undo it.”

What it tells you before you confirm

What it tells youWhat it means
Its lines are named — e.g. “Deleting this branch also deletes its 2 lines — Front desk, Collections. One press and they’re gone — this can’t be undone.” Pressing Delete location removes them for you. The list just shows which queues are about to go.
If it has a journey, that's named too — e.g. “It also deletes its journey, Check-in then service.” Journeys go the same way lines do — one press, no separate step.
What is kept Retired lines go with the branch, but the visit history behind them stays in turnda's records. Invoices and payment history are kept too.
What will stop it Anything still attached — visitors who've been through it, saved reports, a paired screen, counters, a journey, its own flags, recorded activity, or team chat — refuses the removal, and turnda names the one holding it up. It also refuses if the card payment service can't confirm the branch's charge has stopped — then nothing is removed.
What it does to your bill Stops that branch's renewal — you are not charged for it again, and your other branches are unaffected. The branch is removed straight away, so the rest of the month or year you've already paid for can't be used, and it is not refunded.
If it stops halfway, some lines are already gone Lines are removed one at a time. On a branch whose second line refuses, the first is already deleted and cannot be brought back.
turnda says exactly that “… “Front desk” was already removed and cannot be brought back. The location was kept.”
  • If you see it, the branch is still there — clear the reason it names and try again.
  • A line that has ever served somebody is the usual reason; for that line the answer is Archive, not Remove.
Deleting is not the same as cancelling If all you want is to stop paying for a branch, cancel it from Billing instead — the dialog spells out the difference before you confirm.

Retiring a line: archive vs remove

Archive Remove
What happens Retires the line and keeps everything — stops taking visitors everywhere at once (QR, join link, kiosk, self-booking), disappears from your list, stops counting towards setup status Deletes the line
Your history Every ticket, visit, booking and figure it ever produced stays exactly where it is —
Blocked once the line has served anyone — ✓
Reversible ✓ —
A line you've stopped using doesn't have to be deleted.
Archiving is reversible An "Archived lines" section appears on the Locations page for that branch whenever something is in it — each retired line, with how many visits it recorded, and a Restore button.
  • It's hidden when nothing is archived.
  • Not sure yet? Pause the line instead — Pause new joins stops new visitors while leaving everything else alone, and you switch it back on yourself.

What's in Line settings

Staff controls How much latitude staff have, and the flags they can apply.

Share / Get found — every way people can reach this line

TabWhat it is
At a glance Each channel, with its status.
Join link Copy it, or download its QR code.
WhatsApp join A QR code that opens WhatsApp with the line's join code pre-typed — one tap and they're in the queue, updates on WhatsApp. Appears once WhatsApp is live for your account.
Booking link Appointment lines only.
QR poster Print it, or save it as a PDF.
Website button A “Join the queue” button with copy-paste code.
Join from a phone Lets customers join from your website or a link before arriving. Off by default — the on-site QR always works; remote joining is your call.

Finding a setting without hunting for it

A line has more than forty settings across nine sections, so Line settings has a search box at the top, above everything else.

What you doWhat happens
Type what you're after — e.g. “TV, WhatsApp, privacy, no-show…” The section list is replaced by the settings that match, each with the section it lives in shown underneath.
Click one You land on it, scrolled to and centred.
Nothing matches It says so, and names a few words worth trying.
Search by what you call it, not by what turnda calls it It reads the setting's name, its section, and the everyday words people use for it — so "TV", "chime", "late" and "cap" all land somewhere. It also searches in your own language and in English.

Setting one line up and copying it to the rest

In Line settings → Overview → Copy to another lineWhat happens
Copy to all other lines Takes every tunable setting on this line and writes it over every other line in your whole business — not just this branch, every line at every location you have.
Save as default for new lines Keeps these settings as the starting point, so every line you create from now on begins here instead of at turnda's defaults. Lines you already have are left alone.
“Copy to all other lines” happens the moment you press it There is no "are you sure". Look down the Overview of the line you're copying from first — what you see there is what every other line is about to become.
  • Only the owner can copy settings across lines — a manager doesn't see Copy to another line at all, because it reaches lines outside the branch they run.

Two things never travel, on purpose

SettingWhy it stays put
Who's served first (the serving order) Changes how a live queue behaves in front of real people — each line keeps its own.
Whether a line is paused Same reason.

When two of you are editing the same thing

If someone else saves while you have the same line open, their change is already in — you get a red panel at the top of Line settings, never a quiet win or a quiet loss.

The panel: “Someone else changed this line while you were editing”

What you seeWhat it means
Only the settings you both touched are listed, their value beside yours Save changes stays switched off until you decide.
Anything you changed that they didn't touch Kept either way.
Anything they changed that you didn't touch Already there — the panel only asks about the genuine overlap.
You pressWhat happens
Use their values Drops your version of those settings and keeps theirs.
Keep mine Keeps what you typed — saving now writes yours over theirs.

Location details and Open hours don't offer a choice

What the screen saysWhat to do
These settings were changed by someone else. Please review and save again. Nothing of yours was written — close the window, open it again, and redo your change on top of what they saved.
Someone else changed these hours — review and save again. Same — close the window, open it again, and redo your change on top of theirs.

Closing without saving

What you seeWhat it means
You have unsaved changes You've changed something and not yet pressed Save changes.
No unsaved changes Nothing is waiting to be saved.
“Leave without saving?” — “Your changes to {the line} haven't been saved yet. Close now and they're lost.” You tried to leave with work in progress.
You pressWhat happens
Stay on this page Stays on the page — nothing is lost.
Leave and discard Leaves the page and throws away what you typed.
  • This check covers every way out: the ✕, the Close button, the Escape key, a click on the dark area around the window, a click on the sidebar, and the browser's Back button.
  • Reloading or closing the tab gets your browser's own version of the same warning.
Open hours save on their own They're not part of the batch, so Save changes does not write them — but unsaved hours still count as unsaved work, so the footer and the “Leave without saving?” question both know about them.

Journeys

A line set to several stops is a FlowA visit that passes through several stops in order (e.g. reception → consult → pharmacy). Each stop is its own line.. Its row names the flow and the branch, and carries a “Flow · {'{N}'} stops” badge.

  • Open its Line settings and the Setup section shows the stops in order.
  • Reorder them, tap Add a stop, or open any stop's own settings.
  • Each stop is a real line with its own stations, hours and “served first” rule.
Until the location is live Share / Get found warns that "these links won't work for visitors" — the join QR code and links only start working once you start the trial.
