PIN sign-in & stations
Staff sign in with a username and a 6-digit PIN they chose themselves — on any phone or tablet, not just the one at the counter.
You type your username. You do not pick your name off a list. The screen asks for two things and nothing else. Owners have their own door — Owner? Sign in with your email.
Signing in
- 1Type your usernameluxe_grace
- 2Type your 6-digit PINSigns you in by itself
- 3You're inReady to serve
- 4Take a counterOptional — one tap
Your username
| The part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Made for you | Your manager gives it to you. You do not invent it. |
| What it looks like | Your shop's short name, an underscore, then your name — like luxe_grace. |
| Why it looks cut short | Only the first 8 letters or numbers of your name are used. A long name comes out short. |
| Capital letters | Do not matter. Type it any way you like. |
- The PIN is 6 boxes, one number in each. It only takes numbers.
- It moves to the next box on its own as you type. Backspace steps back.
- Fill the last box and you are in — you do not have to press Sign in. The button is there if you would rather press it.
- The numbers are hidden as you type, and your phone never offers to remember the PIN for you.
Taking a counter
A counterA spot where one staff member serves one visitor — a chair, desk, room or counter. is optional. Taking one shows the team who is at each counter and adds your serves to your own figures — but you can call and serve guests without taking one.
| In the top bar | What happens |
|---|---|
| Sign in to a station | Opens the list of counters. Tap Sign in here on a free one and you are on it. No PIN is asked for here. |
| At {{name}} — switch station | The same button once you are on a counter — it names the one you are at (for example "At Chair 2 — switch station"), and moving to another one takes you off this one. |
| Sign out | Leaves the counter free for the next person. |
“No stations on this line” is not a fault. It means that line serves without calling people to a particular counter.
- You only see that sentence if you open the panel from a line that has counters and then switch it to one that does not — for a line with no counters, the panel does not appear at all.
- Ask an owner or manager to add a counter if you want the team list and your own figures to show one.
Your first time — setting your PIN
You do not invent a PIN out of nowhere. Your manager gives you a one-time code, and you swap it for a PIN of your own choosing.
- On the sign-in screen, tap First time here, or been given a code?
- Type your username. The one your manager gave you, like luxe_grace.
- Type the one-time code. From your manager, like K7QF-3MTX. It works once.
- Choose your PIN — 6 numbers. You will type this every time you sign in.
- Type it again to be sure. If the two do not match, it says “Those two don't match.”
- Tap Set my PIN and sign in. That does both at once — you do not sign in again afterwards.
Tried to sign in without a PIN yet? The screen does not just refuse you. It takes you to this form by itself and says “You haven't set a PIN yet. Enter the code you were given and choose one now.”
How long a code lasts
| The code | How long it works |
|---|---|
| A set-up code, for a new teammate | One week |
| A reset code, when a PIN is forgotten | One day |
| Having two codes at once | Not possible. A new code cancels the old one. |
Setting a PIN signs you out everywhere else. That is on purpose. The usual reason to set a new PIN is that somebody may know the old one — leaving the old sign-ins alive would make the new PIN pointless.
When it won't let you in
| What the screen says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| That username or PIN isn't right. | Something is wrong — the username, the PIN, or an owner is trying to sign in this way. The screen will not say which, on purpose: a different message for each would let a stranger work out who does and does not work at your shop. | Check the username with your manager, then try the PIN again. |
| Too many wrong PINs. Ask your manager to reset it — or wait 15 minutes and try again. | 5 wrong tries in a row. This locks the person, never the tablet — a colleague can still sign in on the same device. | Wait 15 minutes, or ask a manager to reset it. A reset is faster. |
| A lot of people are using turnda from this venue's internet connection right now. Wait a minute, then try again. | The shop's internet is busy. Nothing is wrong with your account. | Wait a minute and try again. |
| That username or code isn't right. | On the set-up form. The one-time code has already been used, or it has run out. | Ask your manager for a fresh code. |
Forgot your PIN? The screen tells you before you have to ask — “Ask your manager, they'll give you a new code.”
Handing a shared tablet to the next person
- Grace is on the tablet
- Menu → Switch userGrace is still signed in
- Sam types their PIN
- Sam is on, Grace is offOnly on this tablet
- The screen names the person by username, not by their real name — “luxe_grace is signed in on this device. Signing in will sign them out here — but not on their own phone.”
- A wrong PIN changes nothing at all. The counter is never left with nobody on it because somebody fumbled a PIN.
- Changed your mind? Never mind — go back returns you to where you were, with nothing touched.
My sign-in — your PIN and your devices
My sign-in in the menu is everyone's page, staff included — “Your PIN, and the devices you're signed in on.”
| On that page | What happens |
|---|---|
| Change my PIN | Type your current PIN, the new one, and the new one again. The new PIN has to be different from the old one, and the page says so if it is not. Changing it signs out every other device and leaves yours signed in — and tells you how many went: “PIN changed. Your other 2 devices were signed out.” |
| Sign this out | Ends one device. The list names each one — “iPad”, “iPhone”, “Windows PC” — with when it was last used, and marks the one in your hand This device. |
| Sign out my other {{count}} devices | Ends all the rest at once. It counts them for you, so the button says the real number (for example "Sign out my other 3 devices"). It disappears when there is nothing left to sign out, and the page says “Nothing else is signed in.” Signing out takes effect straight away, not later. |
- For example — "Sign out my other device" when there is one, "Sign out my other 3 devices" when there are three.
Owners see something different here. An owner signs in with an email link, so there is no PIN on that account to change. The page says so plainly — “You sign in with your email.”
Resetting someone's PIN
| What a manager CAN do | What NOBODY can do | |
|---|---|---|
| The PIN itself | Clear it, so the old one stops working straight away | See it, or set it for somebody else |
| How it works | Hands out a fresh one-time code; the person picks their own new PIN | — |
| Where | Reset station PIN on the person's tile on the Team page | — |
Forgotten PIN in the middle of a shift? Nobody has to wait 15 minutes if a manager is on the floor.
- The manager resets the PIN and reads out the new code.
- The person taps First time here, or been given a code?, types the code in, and picks a new PIN. They are straight back on.
